Cities for Sustainable Culture is a new website designed as the main landing page for the Eurocities Lille Call to Action for low carbon and more inclusive culture. The platform brings together, in one place, the key information cities need to understand the Call, explore how it works, and see how peers across Europe are already turning commitments into action.
The Eurocities Lille Call to Action is a political commitment by local authorities to accelerate the ecological transition of cultural policies and events, while strengthening inclusion in culture and through culture. It is structured around two pillars and 16 priorities, offering a shared framework that cities can adapt to their local context. Since its launch, the Call to Action has grown into a strong community, with 60 cities already signed up, and the network will continue to expand.
The new website will be updated regularly as more cities join, making it a living space that reflects the momentum behind sustainable and inclusive culture in Europe. Visitors will be able to follow updates on new signatories and related developments through the News section.
Alongside the website launch, Eurocities has also published Culture for sustainable and inclusive cities, a catalogue showcasing 100+ initiatives submitted by cities. The catalogue demonstrates how the Call to Action is being implemented in practice, from reducing the environmental footprint of cultural activities to widening access, strengthening participation and supporting wellbeing. On the website, these initiatives can be explored through an interactive Good practices section, allowing users to browse examples and find ideas that can inspire local action.
Cities for Sustainable Culture is intended as both a practical resource and an invitation: cities are ready to lead, learn from one another and scale solutions that work. If your city is interested in joining the Eurocities Lille Call to Action, or you would like to share a good practice and contribute to the growing repository, we would love to hear from you.
Visit the Contact section to express your interest in signing the Call to Action and joining the network.
