Eurocities’ work on sustainable culture is embodied by the Eurocities Lille Call to Action for Sustainable and Inclusive Culture. This online hub explains the Call’s origins, vision and structure, tracks its growing community of signatory cities across Europe, gathers relevant news and resources and acts as a repository for 100+ city initiatives collected under the call – inspirational practices for the cultural sector from sustainable public procurement to democratic participation.

New cultural policy to strengthen local creation – Enschede, The Netherlands
Inclusivity, diversity, sustainability and increasing citizen’s participation were major priorities in the development and implementation of Enschede’s new cultural policy and led to instrumental partnerships between the municipality and local cultural partners.
From neighbourhood breakfasts to cultural participation – Osmangazi, Türkiye
Following a proposal by residents, the municipality worked with civil society partners, cultural actors and volunteer communities to create a project that enables citizens to attend selected concerts and cultural events by donating books instead of purchasing tickets.
Work in Progress (WiP): A civic and cultural centre designed by the public – Malmo, Sweden
Work in Progress (WiP) is a meeting place for young people aged 16 - 25 who need support in taking the step from being ‘hobby creatives’ to becoming professional cultural practitioners.
