Culture around the corner

Turin – Italy

Pillar 2:
Ecological transition in the field of culture

Priority 11:
Providing access to cultural programmes for all, ensuring that barriers to access to culture are addressed

To address cultural access gaps in suburban areas and engage diverse audiences, the city of Turin and Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo developed the Cultura dietro l’Angolo (Culture around the Corner) initiative.

It brings cultural events like arts, performances and music to local neighbourhood hubs, including libraries, community centres, and public venues aiming to make culture more inclusive, accessible and strengthen social interaction and community spirit.

Over 12,000 attendees participated in the 2024 events, more than twice the attendees in 2023.

A satisfaction survey, conducted via phone with 314 participants, revealed that 98% of feedback was positive and 61% was very positive. 72% of respondents said they rediscovered the pleasure of socializing, while 57% said they stayed in touch with people they met during the events.

Budget and funding sources:

The project is funded with €4 million from the EU-cofinanced PON METRO PLUS and Città Medie 2021–2027 programme, plus €460,000 from Fondazione per la Cultura and Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo.
