Culture for climate convention

Lyon Metropole – France

Pillar 1:
Ecological transition in the field of culture

Priority 9:
Training city staff and local actors on biodiversity and ecological issues

In 2023 Lyon Metropole co-organised a culture and climate convention with the City of Lyon, offering a platform for stakeholders to exchange ideas and collaborate.

Each class of the convention brings together a small group of cultural stakeholders from different artistic fields. To date, over 25 stakeholders have been supported, benefiting from peer-to-peer exchanges, a free and accessible tool, and local resources and contacts for each theme (transport and mobility, digital, energy, food, waste, and more.)

Among the challenges encountered, the most significant difficulty reported was for cultural stakeholders to find the time to attend sessions and collect the necessary data.

Participants highlighted that such approaches must be supported and initiated by the management of each organisation, with internal reporting mechanisms to raise awareness and ensure the engagement of the entire team.

At the same time, they valued the opportunity to connect with local actors and resources, recognising the benefit of shared learning and collaboration. Building on this, Lyon Metropole aims to gradually bring all participating organisations together into a cohesive network, fostering collective momentum and long-term commitment to sustainability.
