The Climate Class: A pioneering training programme for cultural professionals
Strasbourg – France
Pillar 1:
Ecological transition in the field of culture
Priority 9:
Training city staff and local actors on biodiversity and ecological issues
Climate Class is an innovative, practical training programme launched in January 2024 to meet the challenges of ecological transition in the cultural sector. Designed for cultural professionals in Strasbourg and its Eurometropole, the Climate Class aims to raise awareness of environmental issues and provide practical tools to take effective action.
The first part of the Climate Class took place over a four-month period, from January to March 2024 and was structured around two days of plenary training and interactive workshops.
In addition, eight thematic modules of four hours each were offered, covering a variety of fundamental topics: circular economy and eco-design, responsible communication, biodiversity, careful use of technical and technological resources, energy design, eco-responsible broadcasting techniques and public and professional mobility.
More than a hundred professionals representing over sixty different cultural organisations, as well as production facilities, have benefited from this training. The Climate Class has succeeded in creating a common knowledge base on the main axes of ecological transition for the cultural sector.
The first stage of the Climate Class marks the starting point of collective commitment to less carbon-intensive and more environmentally-aware culture. The Climate Class takes a systemic approach to integrating environment and people into cultural practices, aspiring towards responsible, sustainable and supportive creative processes.
