Encouraging local artistic creation

“Maia ao Palco” was launched in 2007 with the aim of celebrating World Theatre Day every year through a programme that brings together different artistic fields, namely theatre, visual arts, literature and video, while promoting cultural education and audience engagement among people of different ages.  

Since 2009, the programme has also included the Amateur Theatre Showcase, which gives visibility to the work developed by local theatre associations and groups, providing them with a space to present, share and showcase their creative work. This way, the initiative contributes to sustaining the artistic activity of these organisations, encouraging artistic creation and experimentation, and promoting exchange and collaboration between different groups and cultural practitioners.  

In this context, Maia ao Palco has established itself as a space for artistic creation, presentation, exchange and development, strengthening the local cultural and associative sector and contributing to the development of local artistic creation.
